FAQ

Quick answers about Brunoise, the workflow, and what’s next.

What is Brunoise?
Brunoise is a digital cookbook built for cooks who want structure: folders, ingredients, and step-by-step methods you can actually use while cooking.
How do folders work?
Folders are your personal organization system. Each recipe belongs to one folder. Use folders for menus, weeks, projects, or any workflow you like.
What is “My Station”?
My Station is your default working view (your currently selected folder). It’s designed for sharing and discovery—recipes created there default to Public.
How do I make a recipe Private?
When creating or editing a recipe, toggle Visibility to Private. If you’re in My Station, pick another folder first to enable Private.
How does ingredient search work?
In Add Recipe → Ingredients, type to search the ingredient master list. If you can’t find an ingredient, just type your own name—Brunoise will save it as custom text.
Can I add multiple ingredients quickly?
Yes. Select multiple ingredients from the search results, set Qty/Unit/Notes, then press Add to append them to the list.
What is Select vs Type in Steps?
Each step can be created in Select mode (Action/Time/Temp/Equipment + optional detail) or Type mode (free text). Select mode also generates a clean sentence for the step.
Why are some features disabled?
If a feature is disabled, hover it to see exactly why and how to enable it. Plan-gated features (like dish photos) can be enabled via Settings → Billing.
Do public recipes appear in The Pass?
Yes. The Pass shows all Public recipes shared by everyone. Tap Show More to open the full recipe page.
What’s coming next?
Ingredient scaling, pantry AND-filter, better recipe cards, step timers, richer pro-mode actions, drag-and-drop step ordering, and more structured equipment/temperature presets.
